麻豆免费版 awarded UK MOD contract to provide innovative support to Ukraine /news/babcock-awarded-uk-mod-contract-to-provide-innovative-support-to-ukraine/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 14:46:47 +0000 /?p=118939

麻豆免费版 has been awarded a proof-of-concept contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) which will enable Ukraine鈥檚 armed forces to 3D print military equipment.

As prime contractor, we will work with UK defence technology company QinetiQ to create digital drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD) files of military equipment which then can be used to print parts in country.

This innovative technology support comprises reverse engineering older parts to understand their function and design, enabling them to be digitally recreated on demand. Digital files will enable the manufacturing of parts during operations using a variety of methods including 3D printing, demonstrating our ability to deliver defence support capability whenever and wherever it is required.

Tom Newman, CEO of 麻豆免费版鈥檚 Land Sector, said: 鈥淲e aim to give Ukraine the capability to recreate the military parts that they need, where and when it really matters. This innovation builds on our engineering expertise and technology capability, giving us further opportunities to optimise 3D printing.鈥

Alan Hart, Managing Director of Science, Technology and Weapons for QinetiQ, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to be working with 麻豆免费版 to support Ukraine, and are immensely proud that QinetiQ is able to draw on our world-leading expertise in technical assurance to assist.

鈥淭his latest contract demonstrates QinetiQ鈥檚 unequalled expertise in material capability assurance, and commitment to support to the frontline, whether our own or those of our allies.鈥

This new contract forms part of 麻豆免费版鈥檚 steadfast support for Ukraine. Recently, we announced an extension to our support for Ukraine鈥檚 armed forces which will ensure vehicles such as the Challenger 2 tank are repaired and restored as quickly as possible to the front line. We manage the vehicle supply chain and spares and share our engineering expertise to train the Ukrainian military to conduct the repairs themselves.

Making strong progress on our gender pay gap /news/making-strong-progress-on-our-gender-pay-gap/ Wed, 02 Apr 2025 11:16:06 +0000 /?p=118860

Committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive, we鈥檙e proud to share that 麻豆免费版鈥檚 gender pay gap has decreased again this year 鈥 with our median gender pay gap now at 5.9%, down from 6.7% in 2023.

Well below the UK national average of 13.1%, this figure reflects the work we鈥檙e doing to build a more inclusive and balanced workplace and our ongoing efforts towards gender parity.

As an international defence company, our workforce has traditionally been male dominated. However, we’re beginning to see significant changes with women now making up:

  • 19.5% of our workforce (up from 18% last year)
  • 30% of our Senior Leadership Team (up from 23%)
  • and 40% of our Board (up from 38%)

While we acknowledge our progress, we know there鈥檚 more to do. Addressing the gender pay gap requires a long-term strategy, and we鈥檝e got a clear plan in place to keep momentum going.

We鈥檙e driving gender balance through a data-driven approach, continuously monitoring progress and identifying key areas for action. Through mentoring and development, inclusive policies and support, and a range of Employee Networks, we ensure our initiatives create a meaningful, lasting impact.

 Some of our actions include:

  • Our Illuminate women鈥檚 development programme which empowers our women to achieve professional goals through innovative approaches, a supportive environment and a skilled mentor
  • Co-sponsorship of Women in Defence Critical Mass Summit 鈥 a collaboration that underscores our commitment to improving gender balance and providing equitable opportunities for women to succeed in the defence sector
  • Improved inclusive leave policies and maternity returner support to focus on wellbeing and life balance and support the diverse needs of our people in the moments that matter
  • A target of 30% women across our workforce by 2030, now built into our company-wide KPIs

We believe that being an inclusive employer makes us a better business, enabling everyone who works for us to fully contribute, and helping us attract and retain diverse talent.

We remain committed to the gender pay gap and building a workplace where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Today we鈥檝e launched a national series of events in Bristol, aimed at inspiring the next generation of talent into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers and the engineering and defence industry.

The two-day long Festival of Engineering (FOE), which kicked off at our Bristol site today, coincides with the UNESCO World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, and gives pupils from across the region the opportunity to take part in a range of fun events, all centred around STEM.

Following this event, we鈥檒l be hosting two further FOE events this year 鈥 one in Rosyth in May, where the event has been running for six years, and another in Devonport in June. Organised by our own graduate community, around 1500 pupils are expected to take part across all three events this year.

Around 400 pupils, teachers, partner companies and customers are taking part in this week鈥檚 event, where they will hear from our inspirational guest speakers including Alice Bunn, OBE, CEO of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

The Royal Navy, Engineering UK, industry partners like BAE Systems and the charity Not Just for Girls, are supporting our event which is highlighting the theme of Breaking Down Barriers 鈥 particularly around women in engineering, defence-related career pathways and empowering those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Louise Atkinson, our Chief People Officer, who is a guest speaker this week, said: 鈥溌槎姑夥寻驸檚 Festival of Engineering is our flagship series of STEM events in 2025 and we are proud to launch them across the UK, building on the legacy we have created in Rosyth, with an ambition to take it internationally.
