As well as the eLGVs, we have also replaced London Fire Brigade鈥檚 training car fleet with new EV variants. These will be used at the Fire Brigade鈥檚 training centres in Ruislip, Beckton and Croydon 鈥� reinforcing both organisations鈥� commitment to sustainability and innovation. We marked two major milestones on Tuesday at our Rosyth facility in Scotland. As another significant moment was delivered on the Type 31 (T31) programme with the keel laid for HMS Formidable, a new contract was announced with HII, (NYSE:), the United States largest military shipbuilder and a global leader in maritime unmanned autonomous platforms, to support the US Navy鈥檚 Virginia class submarines from the site.

As part of the leading frigate programme, that will see five T31s delivered to the UK鈥檚 Royal Navy within 10 years of contract signing, the keel laying ceremony signalled the programme鈥檚 strong momentum and reinforced Rosyth鈥檚 role as a critical sovereign capability.  

Celebrated with our workforce, the Royal Navy and UK and international guests, the first modular section of the ship was carefully positioned on top of a coin, a traditional symbol of good fortune for the ship and her crew.

Earlier on Tuesday, we announced an expansion to our strategic partnership with HII that will see us put our advanced manufacturing expertise to use, supporting complex submarine assemblies for the US Virginia-class submarine programme from Rosyth, further growing support for the US submarine fleet from the Scottish site that already delivers missile tube assemblies for US and UK programmes.

The UK and Indonesia have agreed a landmark 拢4 billion maritime deal securing 1000 jobs in the UK in the latest boost for the British industry.

Set to be announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a call to President Prabowo Subianto from the G20 Summit tomorrow [SATURDAY], the new Maritime Partnership Programme (MPP) led by British defence firm 麻豆免费版, will see the UK and Indonesia jointly develop maritime capability for Indonesia鈥檚 navy and more than 1,000 vessels for its fishing fleets to boost seafood consumption and in turn, food security.

The boats will be built in Indonesia using British shipbuilding expertise, which will support 1000 jobs at home in the UK. The majority of jobs are expected to be secured at 麻豆免费版鈥檚 Rosyth shipyard, with further roles at the company鈥檚 Bristol site and Devonport dockyard.

Awarded by the French Ministry of Armed Forces Directorate of Aeronautical Maintenance (DMA茅), the contract covers support to 46 Airbus H145 helicopters which provide search and rescue, air medical transport, and internal security missions, across mainland France and overseas territories.

This includes 40 aircraft for S茅curit茅 civile and six new H145 helicopters for the Gendarmerie nationale, which will replace the current Airbus EC145-C2 fleet. The new contract also includes an option for 22 additional helicopters for the Gendarmerie nationale.

We will provide support from our maintenance centre in Cannet-des-Maures, and will be responsible for central technical assistance, certain aircraft components, mission equipment, and associated ground support assets.

Over the past year as part of our investment in STEM initiatives we鈥檝e launched our first national series of Festival of Engineering events in Bristol, Rosyth and Plymouth, promoting STEM careers to over 1,500 schoolchildren.

We have been awarded a one-year contract extension by the Ministry of Defence to continue delivering electro-mechanical training to the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT).

The Electro-mechanical Training Contract (EMTC2) extension, worth circa 拢22 million, involves the annual delivery of courses to around 5,000 students from the tri-Services.

Through the contract, we will continue to provide services such as the design, planning, scheduling and delivery of training, and support to more than 2,500 pieces of equipment 鈥� including weapons and tanks, and multi-media development.

We have been delivering training to the DCTT for more than 10 years 鈥� employing more than 300 people at the Ministry of Defence Lyneham and HMS Sultan.

We鈥檙e proud to have won the Net Zero Resource Efficiency category at this year鈥檚 Ministry of Defence (MOD) Sanctuary Awards, which celebrate exceptional sustainability and conservation achievements.

This award recognises our hydrogen derived from wastewater project – a pioneering initiative aimed at developing radical fuel-switching technologies to support the decarbonisation of our Devonport facility and the wider maritime sector.

The project focused on demonstrating the feasibility of producing sustainable hydrogen fuel from contaminated wastewater. A small-scale hydrogen production plant was built to validate the process and assess the cost-effectiveness of scaling up to produce a drop-in hydrogen fuel alternative to HVO diesel. It included the construction of a state-of-the-art demonstrator system for the production, storage, and utilisation of green hydrogen to supply clean energy.

This innovation opens up the potential of a maritime circular economy, where wastewater is transformed into a valuable resource to power dockside infrastructure and maritime vessels. The project not only showcases a viable route to zero-carbon fuel production but also could provide the basis for the future use of hydrogen in dockyard infrastructure.

As we continue to collaborate with industry partners to advance this technology, we鈥檙e looking forward to seeing how the insights gained from this trial help shape industry best practices and support the development of a regulatory framework for hydrogen use across naval bases.
